...some fucking kiddie show/adventure hour, SHAZAM and ISIS. I guess you could watch one half hour, or both. Or, in the case if you and me...NEITHER. I never heard of the fucking thing, but that's not saying much. Every generation has its 12 year-olds who watch NOTHING but television for several years, and spend their precious Saturday mornings agog at the antics of whatever superhero or cartoon animal they fancy.
JOE FUCKING BESSER (whom I mentioned in a "sister" post, below) used to say, "When you get 'em young, you've got 'em for life." He was right, and he was grateful. Nostalgia is a good deodorant. Nostalgia makes you smile at some geezer who is otherwise just as ordinary as the grandfather or uncle you NEVER bother to call.
So enjoying the DVD of some shitty cartoon or "action" show isn't enough. You gotta talk about it...go hunt down every asshole who was in the show (even as a guest) and bug them with "what was it like" questions. At least in THIS case, most of the cast is alive, so they presumably get some kind of kick (or at least $20 for an autographed picture or photo op) from these Peter Pans and Pussies who WON'T GROW UP.
As you see in the above picture, a favorite thing of course, is to DRESS UP like a favorite character from the show. Remember when Halloween was just for kids and the build-up to it lasted less than a week? Reflecting the state of the world...we now take a fucking MONTH to get ready for Halloween, adults are more involved in costumes and parties than the kids, and this shit continues ALL YEAR LONG with utter ASSHOLES getting dressed up for every Comic-Con and Con-Job and Memorabilia show they can find..."Look at me, I'm the Princess from Isis...The Shit Head of Shazam...The Wizard of Oddballs..."
What an inane group, huh? Post a photo, and a few clods knee-jerk a "nice" comment or a catchphrase.
Just throw a picture out there, or start a debate...over WHICH idiot character was better to or equal to some OTHER idiot character...
If you did this with "Star Trek" or "The Prisoner" you'd be lost. There's competition. Plenty of full-time collectors. But find yourself a "niche" and you can be the actual MODERATOR of the group, or one of its STARS.
I'm not saying that these forlorn losers should be reading the grim news and keeping up with each fresh beheading that ISIS maniacs do. What fun is that? But jeez...can you find a BETTER way of wasting what's left of your life? This is just increasing my anhedonia, seeing shit like this. The only thing you can do is figure it's a HEALTHY thing to be alienated!
