Not every "transgender" gets the "reality show" trophy.
Here's a singer who now identifies as male (but hasn't had the full monty surgery) and wanted to mount a one wo-man show to talk and sing about it.
Maybe he didn't realize how few fans he had? Or that they wouldn't understand why $15,000 was needed? I think most people figure that a singer-songwriter simply puts the guitar in the back seat, drives to the gig, and that's it.
Then again, as freakish as Caitlyn looks, it's "glamor." What you see above? Not so much.
There also isn't quite the appeal of Chaz Bono, who went from a dumpy looking woman to a "husky" fellow, and had Cher coming along for the ride.
Women can, of course, wear men's clothes any time they want to. They can cut their hair short. Go without make-up. Nobody really cares. SO, what's the story?
We will probably not find out in this case, although the Kickstarter campaign was a "flexible funding" deal. Which might mean that our hero walks away with a third of the requested goal ($5,000 not $15,000) and MIGHT play a few local gigs without fancy lighting or...now what WERE all those things that pushed the price up? Oh right, hiring a multi-media firm etc. etc. Well, I guess the show will go on with just one person on stage strumming the guitar.
This is an obscure person who doesn't seem to gig much outside of Maine, so the "one wo/man show" will probably play in that area, maybe some gay-lesbian coffee houses. Who knows. A week after Janis Ian blows through, this one can show up, right? Frankly it's all very confusing. No, not someone deciding they're the wrong sex...someone trying to make a living as a singer-songwriter, with or without a gimmick.
