EVANS the INTERNET IDIOT (Joyce Evans, that is)

Is this a surprise? A newscaster in Philadelphia offended people by burbling about "Breaking Bad" in a Tweet, and using it as a promo for her upcoming news report on a mass shooting. Mmmm, folks, if you like inane fictional TV shows full of violence, then you'll LOVE this live report on six people shot!

What you have, at most TV stations around the world, are fashionable STUPID mannequins who are just news readers.

That's all they are. Joyce Evans was clearly hired because she fits the Philadelphia demographic of being young (check) a woman (check) and a light-skinned black (check). Having any college credentials in English, Broadcasting or Journalism would be a bonus but not necessary, any more than ex-ballplayers need a credential to move from the sports arena to the TV booth commenting on a game. It's about LOOKS first, personality second and intelligence dead last.

That's why it's no surprise Joyce Evans wrote such a clueless Tweet.

She defended herself with a typo ("Last tweet NOT AST ALL A JOKE") and later added another Tweet:

"Not a joke. Missed my point. This is a very real life drama. Not gonna have a tv ending."

That's in the tradition Edward R.Murrow and Walter Cronkite? Tweeting? Sneering "Missed my point"? "Not gonna have a tv ending?"

What else, Joyce. You forgot to say "It is what it is" and "Know wuttum sayin" and "It's ALL good!"

Well, any typo-filled illiterate or funky short-hand TWEET is ok with people. We're used to dumbed down plagiarized news on websties, and garbled 144 characters or less Tweeting because U R 2 bzy 2 rite mor, LOL!

No wonder Twitter is "going public" on the stock market and hoping to raise a BILLION dollars. Assholes like Joyce Evans have to play penny-ante games on Twitter to try and get a few more viewers. Since all that most of these news readers do is read from a TelePrompter rather than get facts and have detailed knowledge of what they're announcing, she has time for "social media" foolishness. You can imagine how much more damage Twitter will do once they have all the money in the world to add more bells and whistles and keep people texting their crap.

Today in both print news and on TV, the line is blurred between what should be presented straight and what is entertainment. That's why Joyce Evans couldn't be bothered typing out TWO separate TWEETS. To her, the entertainment factor of "Breaking Bad" (the last episode featuring 10 shootings) was equal to a gang-style shooting of 6 in her home town. Hey, it's all good, it's all violence, it's all exciting!

It's not journalism.

Joyce Evans the mannequin being on TV at all, a newscaster Tweeting, the joy people have in watching drug-sex-violence TV shows and then tuning in for an extra thrill on the 11pm News...it's all blurring the line between what is disgusting, and what people find amusing.
