Have a Care, Blair

Blair cares. Who knows, he may end up with a Blair Foundation to rival Bill Clinton's. He's SUCH a fine, fine fellow.

One thing you have to admire about him (and politicians like him) is how much money he earns without actually having a job. How DOES that work? People fling money at him so he can give speeches? They fling money at him so he attends their conferences? Could it be payback for secret deals, or is he just such a superstar he brings a glow to any proceeding?

Somehow he was in Washington the other day, and probably not paying his own plane fare or hotel, and talked about the perilous times ahead...in EUROPE but not in America. Hell, this guy has never met Trump, and when USA Today asked him about a typical Trump gaffe (accepting a congratulatory telephone call from the president of Taiwan — which no president has accepted going back to 1979 — Blair mewed, "I'm not going to get into your politics. To be honest, in the end, I'll tell you what I really think: Let's see how it works out."

What? OK. Well. Hmm. Tony did say "To be honest," not the more usual, "IF I'M BEING HONEST." That would be a big if. Tony added:

"I'm less worried about America than I am about Europe; I'll be very frank with you, America is such a strong country and you've got so many checks-and-balances and you've got such resilience in your economy and so on; you guys will do fine, I'm sure. In Europe, we have systems that are at a point of fragility that troubles me."

Aw, poor Europe. Tony also didn't have anything to say about New Zealand. Well, that's half a world away. Their popular Prime Minister walked off. Is that a good thing? Does that set the stage for Kim Dotcom to become that country's Fuhrer? Who knows. What we DO know is Blair is still beating on Brexit, and most Americans have no idea why he's in the country or why he's talking about a done deal, or grimacing about what happens in Italy.
