"Come A Little Bit Closer..." UGH. NO! "Only in America"

Here's an October concert nobody should be looking forward to...

Sad, isn't it? Can you find a group that more exemplifies the United States of America today?

The majority of the population is...overweight and 60-ish. Yes, that's the so-called "Baby Boomer" generation. They were buying albums by people the same age or slightly older...The Four Seasons, Jay and the Americans, The Monkees...need I add Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Young Rascals and other excruciating shit?

Now that so many of the late 50's and early 60's have died...Elvis, Roy, Del, etc., an "oldies show" generally means bands I've just mentioned...and wax figures like Bobby Vinton. Who is that interesting you'd want to go to a show and see for even the time it takes for them to do their greatest hits? Why risk a suburban drive for an hour that could end in a car crash? Very few from the mid-60's who were any good are still around and playing at a decent price (certainly not Mr. Paulie de la Macca)

THESE guys are on their 3rd lead singer. They look like they're on their third plate of "bottomless pasta" at The Olive Garden. "Cara mia, WHY?"

Which is not to pick on this particular paunchy bunch, but Jeez, are OLDIES shows anything but depressing? You really have to be some kind of old paunchy drunk yourself to find a medley of grotesque pop tunes entertaining. "Lets lock the door and throw away the key..."

It's beyond pathetic what ambulatory people in their 50's, 60's and 70's are doing with the time they have left. I just can't STAND to hear this shit about, "Oh, we're going to see The Association..." or "Gosh, it does look like MIKE is going to join Mickey and Peter again for a tour..." or "Trust me, we haven't seen the last of Crazy Horse..." or "You gotta love The Moody Blues." Do I? And which surviving members are still in it...and WHAT song, other than the preposterous and pretentious "White Satin" thing (or is it "Whiter Shade") is it that you are going to find OH SO ENTERTAINING???

These are nice guys...I'm sure most of 'em on the Oldies trail are...but it's like an old dog doing an even older trick...it's NOT something I wanna see...

I don't listen to ANY of the PRIME stuff from ANY of the people mentioned above. They're only worse now...
