A similar case in the USA involved an asshole who shot and killed a bunch of people, hoping his congresswoman Gabby Giffords would be one of them. She managed to survive excruciating recovery and is still pretty fucked up. Her attacker? At least HE SHUT THE FUCK UP, whether he wanted to or not.
In the USA, you take a guy like that off to the nearest asylum. You don't have him stand around making a lousy situation totally rotten.
