Oh well. Instead of rolling your cart down an aisle and choosing what you want, and picking out produce, and discovering new things, sit in your dungeon and shop ONLINE. Tick boxes.
If it's just canned goods and paper goods, Amazon honcho Bozo Bezos will make a profit on you.
If you actually want fresh food, there will be a local company, perhaps high priced (plus the extra charge for packaging and delivery of course) that will take your online order.
No, you'll have to trust somebody to pick out the bananas, melons, etc. unless you maybe have a fruit stand nearby for THAT stuff.
It's a brave new world where "brick and mortar" stores continue to go out of business.
The "good news" is that some of the stores that are in "better" neighborhoods, will be taken over by other vultures. Surviving supermarket chains will grab off shops in high-traffic locales, while more obscure neighborhood places that might've been bringing the company down will get the big "FUCK YOU." The store will remain dark, until a bank or a nail salon takes over.
We are getting ever closer to being shut-ins. Which is fine for when the air quality is so bad nobody wants to go out anyway, and there is no "fresh" food thanks to acid rain and ruined soil and GMO's. PS, if you want an apple, have your Apple Computer connect to a 3D printer, and print one up for you.
