In the world of rock, it's well known that drummers are mostly idiot savants, morons and brain-dead losers. They either were born that way, or got warped by the drugs they took and the incessant pounding that turned their brains pulpy.
Journey, another of those God-awful arena rock acts, has been hobbling along to no great interest. It's no surprise that some of the original members are gone. Deen (the well-known spelling error) is a replacement drummer. Talk about purgatory; you can almost forgive the guy for trying to escape his miserable life via sex and drugs, especially considering his brand of rock and roll.
There are many lessons here. One is that wheezing rock groups loaded with grizzled lead-singers with varying amounts of hair or hair dye, should be more careful with the budget assholes that join the band.
