The madman drummer, Jim Gordon

Drummers are not a stable lot, are they? They've been known to overdose. They've been known to behave obnoxiously in the studio and at home. At best, they're genially addled and walk around waving two fingers and saying "Peace and Love."

There are exceptions. And then there's the sad case of Jim Gordon, who was one of the best, especially as a session man for dozens of artists.

Sadly, Gordon's madness is the kind that can happen to most anyone, gifted or not. Hearing voices and being schizoid often can happen even to people who don't do drugs or play rock music, and the history books are full of sad examples.

Someone on FARCEBOOK posted a reminder that it's Gordon's 70th birthday.

He is spending it confined, and who knows if he's aware of this milestone or not.
