Varoooom, Brrrrroooom, let's drive to $40,000

It's interesting what people THINK it costs to make a CD or a film.

Here's Amanda, who figures she wants the finest musicians, the finest producer, and she has to go to NASHVILLE for a sound studio, and, oh...$40,000 will cover it.

DICKSTARTER naturally considers this a FAVORITE item, one that should be promoted on their front page and come up instantly in a search.

Gee, that nasty 9/11 anniversary is coming up, and she's got only 3 days to go. It COULD be CLOSE. This is DICKSTARTER, not GoFUNDMe. Did she tick a box that makes sure she can keep the money raised and just, oh, cut back on a few violins, or stay in a less fancy hotel?

Perhaps the high price tag reflects her well-heeled CABARET following.

She plays classy (expensive) venues. She'll book a week at some posh hotel's lounge where a glass of Perrier is $15, and the dress code applies not just to women, but to the majority of men who walk in wearing dresses, too.

Divine, Amanda, just DIVINE.

Actually, even for someone who has rarely recorded anything I wanted to hear, it's still fucking depressing that label deals are so difficult to get. A decade ago, she'd at least be like McCorkle and be supported by a small jazz label. (Oh, McCorkle jumped out a window. Blame it completely on other factors, not that she was barely breaking even with her recordings).

Amanda is lucky she has affluent fans to indulge in a vanity project. Most singer-songwriters would struggle to raise a FOURTH of that amount.

"I want to record a CD of 10 to 12 songs (depending upon funds raised) working with my dear friend and astounding record producer, Fred Mollin, out of Nashville. Fred has produced fine CD's for artists ranging from Jimmy Webb to Johnny Mathis, Vince Gill to Miley Cyrus. He and I collaborated on my last CD of all original material, A WAITING HEART. We will be recording in Nashville in October. Pre-production is already in process, song choices already being made, arrangements being discussed, so that we can start immediately and have the project completed before the end of the year. This CD would make a fabulous Valentine's Day gift!"

Fabulous, fabulous.

Don't rush the project. 2017 is good enough. Valentine's Day indeed. "Buffy, I bought you a copy of Amanda's album, because you're more than just my 3rd wife, you were my 2nd mistress...and look, it only cost me $25 and with that donation I got it signed by the lady herself."

Quite reasonable, actually, in this sad, sad age. A lot of others who DON'T go on Kickstarter and self-press, sell their signed copies via their websites for $25. (Oh, plus $5 shipping!)

One thing's for certain, she's not losing a penny just because Danny Boy Titmouse has just entered the game again.
