"Fair and balanced reporting" is now a joke-phrase. Does it even exist? Everyone has an agenda.
Today, the wire-haired feminists, the PC thought police, and I guess a lot of racists and people who hate Don Lemon, are SCREAMING about what a horrible, horrible boor and villain he is.
I don't watch CNN and I never heard of Don Lemon. Maybe this guy is Piers Morgan in blackface? A lot of people hated Morgan no matter what he did. They didn't like his attitude or his British accent. People don't want a black man as a CNN anchor? They resent a black man asking questions that seem to defend another black man (Bill Cosby) in an alleged rape case?
I checked YouTube (which does have some usefulness once in a while). I watched Lemon ask his question.
Guess what. He did it politely. He did it apologetically. "I have to ask..." and he prepared "the victim" for it. "There are ways to avoid having oral sex," he said. (I'm paraphrasing). "Why, uh, didn't you..." "Bite him? Because I was stoned."
Isn't it important to know what the victim's state of mind was? Was she scared? Was she aroused at all? Why didn't she put up a fight or leave? Oh. She was drunk. She alleges she was given a pill with her alcohol. She also would later mention that she had sex with Cosby a second time.
Lemon could've been tough (Mike Wallace) or even sarcastic (Jerry Springer) about these allegations. He was neither. This journalist is being crucified for asking a reasonable question. Cops have to do it every day. Nurses have to use rape kits every day. Victims know this. Here, we have a sexual incident that happened 20 or 30 years ago. Tarshis is going to be traumatized by answering a question? She's already written, in detail, how (stoned, but coherent) she resisted him fucking her by saying, "I have an infection, your wife will find out."
"So he used another oriface," she said. And now, making the interview rounds, she's asked why she didn't shut her mouth or bite the guy's dick. She didn't huff and scream or storm out of the studio. She acknowledged it was a logical question and she replied that she was too stoned.
PS, she wasn't too horrified or too scared, to date him again. The second time, they fucked, and she decided she wasn't going to get involved with him again. Whether you buy any or all of her story, and whatever you think of Cosby, one thing is very clear, and that Don Lemon is being victimized here by the thought police, the PC brigade, and a lot of weasels with an agenda.
Don Lemon asked a fair question in a sympathetic manner. He did nothing wrong.
