DARK WEB and BRIGHT TUNES

Yes, I get it. The Internet has evolved into a sophisticated "dark web" of sex and drugs and rock & roll.

Savvy teen bastards can get all the MOLLY they want.

Old bastards who barely understand the iPad they type on, can find whores.

Somehow, shit I don't even know about, like ONION domains, are making a fortune. This is probably barely a dent:

So why, in sex and drugs and rock & roll, is the latter virtually ignored?

ALL are p;art of an underground network of organized crime. Kim Dotcom of Megaupload wasn't another Al Capone? He was a swindler, a fraud, and he made his money bootlegging artists, just as Capone made his money off bootleg liquor.

The forums, the torrents roar on, kicking ass, destroying the music industry even further (as well as TV and movies). With the exception of some obscure indie artist I might actually have to buy in order to hear, I can get most everything via very well known and obvious sources. Christ, if I know who they are, everyone does. And these are places run by assholes. They use Paypal. They accept donations. They are not hard to track down at all.

Too bad the fat cats at the RIAA and MPAA aren't hurting enough to really get into the game. The other problem is that creative people are assholes who don't know how to organize. They feel guilty about the "spooky art" by which they simply "think up something" and people like it:

"Gosh, I'm having a good time, I'm getting "fame," so why do I deserve real payment? I have no idea how this stuff comes flowing out of my brain...so let some politician or businessman or Internet CEO take all the money! If somebody e-mails me about sending DMCA's I'll toss that e-mail in the trash. I get by. Why do I need a big fancy house? Let the President of ASCAP have it!"

Once in a great while, a torrent or forum or blog disappears. The irony is, this is usually some place that does little harm...like some dopey site that offers British TV shows for people who can't afford a license or who live overseas. The message is mostly: go ahead, be a big shot, be considered "God" by drivel-brains, and spend your years "on the government teat" while you throw music around or pretend to be a film buff, or whatever your idiot problem is.

As George Harrison sang it, some songs "have nothing Bright about it." And some websites, torrents and blogs are...as "dark" as the Dark Web? Really? Demonoid? Kickass? Zinfuck?

Nice that some people are shutting down onions. I'd like to throw a tomato right in the face of some jerk who runs a blog, torrent or forum...followed by six words: "Shut down or GO TO JAIL."
