The Raven Symone Cosby Rape "SPOOF"

You remember the Monty Python bit? Palin explains a stupid remark with the excuse, "It's a pun."

Of course it isn't a pun. Or a palindrome. Or anything but a stupid fucking remark.

He was playing the part of an idiot trying to get his foot out of his mouth.

NOW?

Now we've got websites that look real, and report the most outrageous, disturbing things:

WHAT?

Oh, it's a pun. It's a palindrome. No, no, it's...a SPOOF!

That's the favorite word on the Internet, right? It's a SPOOF. An e-mail telling you your credit card or Paypal account or mortgage is in jeopardy and you should go to this website to clear it up...it's, ha ha ha, a SPOOF. And then it's identity theft and you spend weeks getting back to normal.

This Raven Symone piece was on a website loaded with TMZ-type items, but all lies. Oh, not lies...SPOOFS. They deliberately think up the worst shit just to get traffic to their website. These "made you look" simian brats are like kids robbing mommy's purse; they are SO happy with their nickel and dime sneakiness and "practical joke." Only they've wasted your time, and in some cases, set your blood pressure soaring.

It seems most every day, somebody e-mails, or posts to Farcebook, a link to an idiot story like this, breathlessly sounding an alarm. Then you have to read the fucking thing, get over the shock, and check to see it's not a reputable website. Sometimes, in tiny print, there's even a disclaimer, "This is a parody website." Oh, what a hilarious "parody." Or is it a pun? Palindrome?

If they get an e-mail from a law firm, big deal, they take down the offending article. Meanwhile they count the click-throughs, and congratulate themselves on having made just enough to break even and keep their shitty site going. Maybe they hope Perez Hilton needs a few butt boys, or TMZ itself would be impressed by their antics.

Raven Symone was hurt, disturbed and aggravated by this lie. Could she prove "damages?" Could she document that she had to waste several days fielding concerned calls? That she had to go get emergency psychotherapy at $500 an hour? Apparently all she could do was go public:

Bob Dylan had that line, "...they're selling postcards of the hanging." Indeed, there's always a buck to be made, isn't there? A celebrity dies, and assholes on eBay suddenly appear with "RIP" buttons to sell, and dupes of autographed photos, and even copies of the death certificate. A celebrity is in trouble and there are "novelty" t-shirts on eBay. And here, some bunch of niggas with their pants around their ankles are yocking it up and don't give a shit who they hurt...which in this case is Raven Symone.

Anybody can create a website that looks real but is a "spoof." Oh, how "entertaining" that site is, with its real-looking report on a rape that never happened. It's just another one of the Internet's unending joys, huh? And that's why somebody set up a blog called DISGUSTED by AMUSEMENT.
