Macca calls him "Jerk of All Jerks" - no, not Jonathan WOSS

When you hear the phrase, "jerk of all jerks," who do you think of?

Justin Bieber?

Dubya Bush?

Russell Brand? Maybe Russell's shower buddy Jonathan Woss?

A few days before the anniversary of Lennon's murder, Macca turned up on the Woss show.

Asked about that fateful evening, Macca said "'The phrase kept coming in my head: 'the jerk of all jerks'."

Now, now, Paulie, let's not get worked up.

Chapman is just "the jerk of all jerks."

OK, Paulie, would you care to elaborate on that?

"It was just like 'this is just a jerk, this is not even a guy politically motivated, it's just some total random thing.'"

Doesn't this strike you as something Yusuf the Cat might say? Or maybe Noel Gallagher, Julian Assange or somebody who was just a kid when it happened?

Gosh, Chapman wouldn't have been a "jerk" if he shot Lennon and declared, ala Assange, "We should have transparency on the Internet and all government papers should be freeeeeee, but don't pry into my Swedish rape charges..."

Maybe we can spin this another way. How about this? McCartney doesn't want to give Chapman any degree of importance. There. That's better.

Oh well. This IS the guy who once sang about all the "political nonsense in the air." And yes, he defended "silly love songs." And even his song for the James Bond movie had a vaudevillian swagger in the middle: "What does it matter to ya? If ya got a job to do ya better do it well. Give the other fella hell!" Rah rah, a paraphrase Harry Truman. Why not?

Even animal rights issues haven't exactly brought Macca out of his macaroni shell. You might remember how a strong line about animal experimentation deterioriated into pap and mewling:

I Saw A Monkey That Was Learning To Choke
A Guy Beside Him Gave Him Cigarettes To Smoke
And Everytime That Monkey Started To Cough
The Bastard Laughed His Head Off
Do You Know What I Mean When I Tell You That We'll All Be Looking For Changes
Changes In The Way We Treat Our Fellow Creatures And We Will Learn How To Grow

December 2014, and we are learning how to grow. In Colorado, that it would be growing marijuana for profit. There and everywhere, oh, just growing old.
