Robin Williams had checked himself into rehab. He wasn't imprisoned. He could go over to a nearby Dairy Queen for a treat...
...and that's where this, one of the last photos of him, was taken.
Williams did not want to disappoint the giddy employee. Nor did he pull a David Letterman...pose for the photo but deliberately make a "look who I'm standing with, ugh" face.
He tried his best to put up with just another depressing moment of "fame."
Reports out of the rehab facility say that he told some of his fellow patients that he wanted to die fast...that he didn't want to agonize and suffer...which is sometimes what "treatment" is all about...withdrawal symptoms, medication that doesn't work or creates side effects...meanwhile a slow decline.
At least all the attention given to his death is shining a light on depression, its causes and its treatment.
The contrast of the two people in the photo...sobering, isn't it?
